A walking app for people who want to see the world

Your steps walk real roads, and every place on them is cited.

The steps you already take carry you along the pilgrim roads, the trade routes, the coast paths and the national parks. Every stop you reach gives you a photograph, a fact checked against its source, and the life of the place: what you'd taste there, what you'd hear, what's alive in the hills. Nothing here was generated. Every journey carries the sources it was written from.

How it works

Nothing to beat, and nothing invented.

No ads, no streak-shaming, and no data sold to anyone. There are no points, no tokens and no partner prizes: what you earn is a souvenir with a story attached, and it has no cash value because it was never currency. The one leaderboard in the app sits inside a squad you invited people to yourself: ten walkers at most, never the world. Pick a pace that fits your life and let ordinary walking carry you somewhere worth reading about.

01

Choose a walk

The Camino, the Tōkaidō, the Silk Road, or a three-day coast path in the next county. A hundred and forty-five of the world's great routes, and eighty-five close to home.

02

Just walk

Steps flow in automatically from Apple Health or Health Connect. No check-ins, no logging, no fuss. Pick a pace, and five good days out of seven makes a week.

03

Arrive somewhere real

Every stop is a place that exists, with a licensed photograph and a fact that has been checked — plus what people eat there, what you'd hear, and what's living in the hills. And a new place lands every day, whether or not you walked far.

04

Keep the record

A passport that stamps, a trail journal, a Someday list of everywhere you want to go, a field guide of real endangered species, and gear that names the road it was earned on.

What's inside

A researched atlas, not a route generator

Every place in Wandelo was written and fact-checked by hand. Nothing here is auto-generated, and nothing is ranked by who paid.

3,554

Citations

Every journey names the sources it was written from. Where the record is disputed the app says so instead of picking the better story, and where something could not be verified it is not claimed.

230

Journeys

Across three worlds: the historic roads, the great modern trails, and the walks within reach of home. Fifty-four squad expeditions run alongside them.

2,403

Places

Real stops on real routes, 2,378 of them carrying a licensed photograph and every one of them a culture note.

546

Species & flora

247 animals, most of them threatened or endangered, with 828 field notes between them, and 299 plants placed by real biome.

0

Paid placements

Nobody can buy their way up a list here. If a region ever commissions a route, it is researched to the same standard and labelled as what it is.

The health-data promise

Your steps are yours

  • Steps are the only health data we read. Read-only, with your explicit permission, revocable any time.
  • There is no GPS in this app. Your position on a journey is computed from step counts alone — we never read your location.
  • Your home region is a choice from a fixed list of ninety, deliberately coarse, so that asking where you live cannot accidentally collect an address.
  • We never sell your data — and our analytics are structurally blocked from ever containing a step count.
